Title Tweak

The working title got a facelift. It will now be called 'CTF-Standoff'!

New version of the map will go up this weekend and I'm going to try to nail down a fly-through as well.

Latest build is available here.

Custom Props ahoy!

There's now a working pipeline for creating custom props and getting them into the map. Currently, visible space optimization is underway. There's definitely some weirdness with the source engine when using func_areaportals - stuff that doesn't seem to be covered in tutorials. Trial-and-error is time-consuming, but is working so far. I'll see if I can get a working build slapped up somewhere in the next week or so.

Status of our Team Fortress map CTF-Borderlands (tentative title):
Layout: 100%
Flag Functionality: 100%
Door/Moving Props: 100%
Props/Static Details: 75%
Textures: 100%
Powerup Placement: 100%
Optimization: 25%

Delays

The map's beta release has been delayed with no estimated ETA. In order to release the map, a number of custom props will need to be created. This presents a problem that we're not currently equipped to solve.

A hopeful look at the Red Base

Polishing on the Blu base is at 80%, the focus has been shifted to the Red base for the time being. The current plan is to have the first beta done by mid-month; a fair delay from the original mid-July estimate, but certainly not bad by any means.

A look at the Red base polish passes is available; it's quite glitchy with seams visible and a lack of smoothing playerclip planes, but those will come this weekend. Have a look at http://www.savefile.com/projects/808630384!

Cheers.

Polishing Update

The polish and detail passes are taking longer than expected as we expand what we want to do with various areas of the map, and create visual themes. Hopefully we'll have our beta release candidate ready in the next few weeks.

Playtest and Public Beta

The playtest build is current available at http://www.savefile.com/projects/808630384 , it's the 2008.05.04 build. The public beta release has been pushed back a month so we can do a couple polish passes. We're currently aiming for the first week of July. Cheers!

CTF-Borderlands (WIP)

Howdy, folks. Since this map is going to be used as a submission for my level design job application, we're throwing together a permanent home for it and using this in place of the mailing list. We'll still be sending emails out when we're trying to get a playtest going, but you can always check out the latest status here.

Status of our Team Fortress map CTF-Borderlands (tentative title):
Layout: 95%
Flag Functionality: 100%
Door/Moving Props: 50%
Props/Static Details: 20%
Textures: 50%
Powerup Placement: 0%

We are currently in the process of doing art passes, replacing the temporary development textures (all those orange and grey boxes you may remember from our 03/02/2007 playtest) with appropriate textures and finalizing layout where necessary to accommodate our art concepts. Hit the link below if you'd like to download the latest build and run around in it. The capture and spawn points are fully functional if you want to get your friends together and have a go. Note that the Red base's rock and dirt walls/floors are under severe construction. Don't be surprised if you see some seams or entirely missing panels in the next couple of builds. Each section has to be painstakingly broken into triangles and hand manipulated to get a nice, uneven 'organic' look.

We are still aiming for a 06/01/2007 public beta test and 07/15/2007 public 1.0 release. We're going to shoot for 05/04/2008 (Sunday) for our next playtest, probably in the afternoon again like last time.

Cheers, and thanks for your support and suggestions.
